Fiber Lines No. 2

This lively composition arranges a sequence of bold, clean-edged vertical stripes in a joyful rhythm of color: forest green, sky blue, sunny yellow, cobalt, crisp white, lavender, periwinkle, cherry red, grass green, teal, and gold march across the canvas in confident succession. The evenly spaced bands create a sense of order and buoyancy at once, their saturated hues playing off one another to give the piece an upbeat, graphic energy. Painted with flat, assured strokes, the stripes read as both structured and carefree, like a pattern caught in a breeze.

I was inspired to create Fiber Lines No. 2 by a different one of my favorite beach towels, and (just like it’s sister piece) in painting it, I wanted to capture the relaxation those colors represent to me, memories of long summer days spent with family and friends by the water. Each stripe feels like its own small moment of ease, and together they create the same sense of unhurried joy I associate with that towel spread out on the sand. This piece would bring a cheerful, breezy energy to a beach house, sunroom, or any space where I’d want to feel that same easy, carefree spirit all year round.
